Bill Simmons made a great point this week in his Mailbag column: You can't be one dimensional for four straight playoff rounds. It's never worked.
They've built a team that is overly dependent on the running game and nearly perfect defensive play. If either of those machines aren't operating at 100%, this team doesn't win in the playoffs. It's not built to play come-from-behind football against playoff-caliber opponents and elite QB's.
If Alex Smith goes 8/18 for 48 yards in the first half next week - or against any other decent team - the deficit is gonna be much worse than 14-3.
Personally, I'm shocked it's taken 11 weeks for a team to decide to play defense against us the way Oakland did.
