He was the Braves top prospect, with value driven much higher by his position. Royals counterpart: This is a tough call, but it's not Wil Myers. It's more Christian Colon (level/position-driven value) or Jorge Bonifacio (value/upside)

Elvis Andrus: No. 65 by BA. Was hitting .244 at Advanced A at age 18. Stil a long way away but with huge upside. Royals counterpart: Aldaberto Mondesi or Orlando Calixte.

Matt Harrison: A fringe top 100 player at No. 96, with limited upside. Viewed as a 3/4 starter in the majors. Nice piece, but not a deal maker/breaker. Royals Counterpart: Prospect wise, probably Cheslor Cuthbert or maybe a Sugar Ray Marimon (not sure why he made the top 100).

Neftali Feliz: Not ranked by BA entering the season. Was in the midst of a strong campaign at A-ball that saw him enter 2008 ranked No. 93 by BA. Was viewed as a young/raw thrower. Royals counterpart: Angel Baez (who is a hell of a rising prospect for the Royals)

So, the Royals package would be something like: Jorge Bonifacio, Calixte, Colon (or Gio, I suppose), Sugar Ray Marimon, and Angel Baez.

That's a fair price for Josh Johnson, I think - and KC is FAIRLY close to his home in Oklahoma, which is important to him for long-term outlook. I'd do this deal with little hesitation. I might try to see if I can convince the Marlins to take Mike Montgomery instead of Calixte or Bonifacio, though.

Royals certainly CAN easily afford to go get Johnson without empyting their system out or surrendering Wil Myers, Bubba Starling, or Jake Odorizzi.
Odorizzi looked too hittable in his last start to me. He didn't give up actual hits, but some REALLY well contacted foul balls.

I think he has the makings of a AAAA pitcher. But the only way to find out is to bring him up. Or maybe that's why they aren't bringing him up.
