Yes, some yahoo gets on TV, shows a picture of finely textured CHICKEN, calls it pink slime in your ground beef, pours a bottle of toxic household ammonia cleaner over a hamburger and scares all the dumbshits of the world.

THIS is real information, sadly most people refuse to learn it. more fun to scream pink slime and fear the zombie apocalypse.
Also many beef packers don't even use ammonium hydroxide, but instead use citric acid as the anti-microbial spray. Same as what's in your multi-vitamins. but that doesn't make quite as dramatic an after school special on ABC.
