It's not out of disrespect or rebellion, contrary to what everybody around me probably thinks when I stay seated as they all stand. I don't wave my middle finger at the flag or goof around on my phone; I just sit quietly and wait for it to be over. I have no problem if other people want to say the pledge. They can agree to be loyal to the United States if they want; it really doesn't matter to me.
Why should I pledge my allegiance to a country? Is it not enough to pay my taxes and vote in elections? I'm not going to work as a spy for another country and I have no plans to become an expat. I just won't say the pledge. My country, like all other countries, is imperfect and has made plenty of terrible mistakes. Why should I declare my dedication to a country that will no doubt make more mistakes in the future? Why should I have to say that I'll support my country no matter what actions it takes?
Just to clarify, I wouldn't pledge my allegiance to any country, so don't think that I'm just singling out the United States.

WTF does the National Anthem have to do with the Pledge of Allegiance?
And why the **** would you even bother NOT saying the pledge of allegiance? It's basically being a dick head just to be a dickhead.
It's like eating dinner with a family that says prayer. You don't have to believe in god, just bow your damn head so you're not acting like a disrespectful shit head.
"But guys...i don't believe in God herpa derp"
Hey...it's not about YOU. No one gives a **** what you believe.
