Comments like yours are where the cross fit resentment comes from. Spewing out reeruned terms like 'usable' or 'functional' strength. Give me a break.

Crossfit was around when I was in highschool, we just called it calisthenics.
Exactly. I got a buddy that puts up about 450 on the bench. Whenever I need a weight machine moved I call that dude because he literally does the work of 2-3 avg guys. I highly doubt he can climb a rope for do 10 burpees. It's just marketing that suckers buy into as an excuse to not get in a gym and get embarrassed by dudes throwing up sick amounts of weight. Of course if doing crossfit makes someone feel good I guess that's there choice and it is better than nothing at all. I just enjoy filling out a T-Shirt with muscles popping through and iron is like an aphrodisiac to me so I spend me time in the free weight section of the gym lifting heavy ass weights.

I know a few guys that hardcore cross fit guys and while they are in excellent shape I wouldn't know they even worked out if they were walking down the street. They just look thin.
