Which was typical. All they had to do was to keep away from the long losing streaks, the long stretches of losing. Just flatten that curve out. Define a slump as, say, 9-14.

Yes, exactly.
A -15 month is really tough to recover from unless you go on a similar hot streak to balance it out.
It's hard to see that with Davis in the rotation, but if they can get Duffy up and avoid injury, I could see a Shields/Santana/Duffy/Guthrie/Chen rotation leading them on a little streak.
