I actually had somebody spoil it. Well, sort of. I didn't know exactly what the "red wedding" was the first time I read ASoIaF, but I knew it was in the middle of the 3rd book, and I knew it would hit like a mack truck. I think I immediately re-read it at the time. The emotional impact of that scene is just so tremendous. It's one of the best (worst) chapters of anything I've ever read.
