These teams were allowed to negotiate an extension BEFORE TRADE COMPENSATION WAS WORKED OUT?
It was made well known the kind of money Albert wanted to teams shopping...the next step was trade compensation.
Once that was agreed upon, they were able to talk to Alberts agent about contract specifics and that's where the train came off the tracks.
