No, that's doesn't really require any faith to accept their science. Anthropologists examined atypical fossilized human remains and noticed that the abnormality coincides with a known genetic disorder, and that the remains show no sign of trauma. The genetic disorder is known to occur highly in births resulting from inbreeding. The affected remains are a fairly high percentage of the overall remains. They propose the theory that the humans interbred to account for the facts that were put before them.
