It doesn't make sense in a lot of places but some places it makes perfect sense and would probably end up profitable(or at least break even). I think it's only a matter of time before Texas has high speed rail. The Austin/San Antonio to DFW to Houston triangle has the perfect distances for this. Too long to drive but too short for air travel. It's that 150-250 mile range that fits this perfectly. I'd much prefer a 1 hour (with 15 minutes of what I will call transport overhead ) train ride to a 3 hour car ride (with 0 minutes of overhead) or a 45 minute trip by air (with an hour of overhead and limited luggage and TSA finger probes ... wait, that's normal right? You guys get full body cavity searches too right?... RIGHT? maybe I should stop requesting them
