That happens sometimes. There's some sketchy power supplies out there. Usually though, we've found that melted shore cord ends result from stretching extra lengths of cord from the pedestal to the camper and cranking a lot of power (air conditioner) through it. Not a big deal as long as the cord itself or the connection to your breaker panel aren't damaged.
