Ultimately, that's all they can hope for... someone who can spend years building the program. But, with all the pressure to get rid of Gill, it's easy to see why they didn't hire another up and coming guy.
My stance with any HC, whether it's Gill, Haley, and even Herm, has been that I don't want those teams to get in the habit of hiring a different HC every few years. But, 2 of the 3 I mentioned
really had to go. KU FB could have 4 different coaches in a 5-7 year span, which would make it that much harder to find the next guy if Weis doesn't improve the team.
