The kid summarizes the dip a little bit when he says "I know what you're thinking...kid comes and learns all and leaves cured". I can't decide if them knowing that weakness made up for the lameness I felt during that dip.

Under Pressure has a new context for me.

The subject matter was dealt with perfectly. In fact, that may be the strongest point of the whole movie. It was perfect. I enjoyed every time we went into his mind, especially the cities. Though, I wish he would have drawn other things.

The supporting characters really helped the movie soar. I do think the Dr. could have had some more time. Jeremy Davies was awesome considering there were plenty of times he blurred the line between patient and worker.

Zack Galifinakis was, unsurprisingly, really good. I don't think many people realize his range. And the movie - perhaps intentionally, perhaps unintentionally - really made me think the ending was going to be different.

I wanted the movie to be longer. It definitely could have if you start to build his creative side a little stronger and more diverse. More scene time with his crush and the hospital girl would have given the culmination a tad more umph, but that's a minor quibble.

In sum, I liked it a lot but I'm not sure I LOVED it. I did, however, love how they handled the subject matter.
Nice.

I don't know that I wholey disagree with any of your points. I might be giving my emotional response to the film more weight in the film's final grade than you are. Which is typical of me.

But, yes, solid points. I'm not sure I felt the dip that you did at the end. Though, the end wasn't as strong as the beginning.

The "Under Pressure" scene was one of my favorite scenes from any film I've seen in a long, long time. I actually got fairly choked up during.

What ending were you expecting?
