Your comparison is a loose grab at logic at best. Yes you can do all of these on your home PC or laptop. But the difference between a smartphone/iPhone and a laptop is the extreme portability. You can take your phone anywhere, how many people you see at the club sitting on their cell phone? How many do you see sitting on a laptop.
I get what you are saying, but this iPad is not one of Apple's better moves. If they wanted to make an e-reader, why market it as a tablet.
