As of Tuesday evening, we have a very good UFC PPV scheduled this weekend. So, we're about 3 days away from 3 or 4 fighters having to go to the hospital during a bad weight cut, failing drug tests, or inexplicably getting hurt after walking out of their shower.
Wednesday
7pm - (Fightpass) - WXC, Warrior Wednesday 1
It finally happened. Some B-League promotion looked at what those wacky Alaskans were doing and thought "hey, maybe we should try that." On paper, this card is awful even by local promotion standards, but there's no other MMA cards that night.
Thursday
9pm - (Fightpass) - Boxing
Friday
9pm - (Fightpass) - Friday Night Fights
I have no idea how good this card is, there's not much info available.
Saturday
3pm - (Fightpass) - Cage Warriors 102
Top European B-League promotion, this card is decent by local promotion standards.
7pm TV - (5:15pm Fightpass/7pm ESPN/9pm PPV) - UFC 235, Jones vs. Smith
Your first thought might be "why the hell is this Anthony Smith dude getting the title shot?" I had that thought too, then I looked at the rankings and remembered: the LHW division is a trash fire. OK, fine.
Don't let that put you off though, this is on paper a fantastic PPV card, if it holds together. The early prelims are nothing special but after that, the prelims on ESPN are very good, and the PPV is great. The main event is probably going to be anticlimactic, but before that all of the fights on the PPV are very good, that welterweight title fight is highly anticipated, hell I'm even interested in that strawweight bout.
