Eric Berry Out for the Faid

Didn't see on the front page. Megathreads can lick my taint

The Kansas City Chiefs have released their inactive list, and safety Eric Berry will not play in the season finale against the Oakland Raiders.

As you know, after missing every practice and game since mid-August, Berry first returned to practice on November 28. Until Friday, he had been a practice participant every day since then. Berry saw his first game action of the season in 30 snaps against the Los Angeles Chargers two weeks ago, and then had 69 snaps against the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday night.

In the days after each of those games, head coach Andy Reid reported that after playing, Berry had suffered no setbacks with the foot injury that has bothered him all season. Hopes were high that Berry might be able to play a full game against the Raiders in the season finale — or at least in the postseason.

But on Friday, Berry was held out of practice, and was listed as questionable for the Raiders game.

“His foot was bothering him—calf area,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on Friday. “Again, it was bothering him, so we’ll just see. We backed off and we’ll see how he does.”

Reid said it was the same area with which Berry has had trouble since training camp.

“He’s going to try to see if he feels better,” Reid said when asked about Berry’s status for the game against the Raiders. “That’s what he’s going to do right now, and then we’ll just see how he is as time goes on here.”

So now it’s official: for the final week of the regular season, “seeing how he is” doesn’t include suiting up for the game.

Chiefs safety Ron Parker — who was inactive last week against the Seahawks — does not appear on the inactive list, and will be available against the Raiders.
