I moved here when I was 17 from San Diego so it took some getting used to. After a few years it started to grow on me. Having family out here solidifies it but I doubt I'd move back anyway..

True that... I have a friend who has lived there for about 40 years, lost his wife to cancer about 10 years ago, but his house is on water in a creek/cove between the bridges, and like he says, he pretty-much lives in his retirement account.. It's not anything super special in terms of a home, but like he says, the property is worth a mint. So, when he's ready to take his Boston Whaler to Florida, he's not going to worry about the money part.
Again, you live in a wonderful town, enjoy it..
