It prevents embarrassing calls like the “forward progress” call in the Titans’ game. Just give the refs the ability to call it roughing the passer and it’s a judgement call that isn’t challengeable. It’ll be interesting to see how this rule is applied to physical teams like the Steelers. This kind of stuff is their bread and butter.
