Red, I've got similar memories of treating with a pillow case, literally sprinting to the next house. Best years where when there was an early fall dew/fog/drizzle going on. When I'd get home, I'd stick my head right into the pillowcase and rummage through. Eventually sorting all candies by "type".

Then it was barter time with my siblings.
