I do this as soon as a QB breaks the pocket. Spies are only useless if you don't know what you're doing with them, and also Dante Fowler's awareness and tackle aren't the greatest so it's understandable why he blew that play against one of the most mobile QBs in the game.
Also you shouldn't be playing a defense on third and long where the QB can scramble for a first down.
I usually just rush three and have 8 in zone coverage on third and long. It's going to be very hard for a QB to run for a first in that situation.

This is all bullshit.
I rushed three, dropped seven and had a QB spy. It was the perfect defense for a 3rd and long against a mobile QB.
I don’t give a damn about a player’s awareness. That shouldn’t have anything to do with it. He didn’t get juked or faked out- Tyrod literally just ran right past him and he didn’t even attempt to make the tackle.
