The difference between Mahomes' freshman year and his junior year was staggering--and THAT came from Kingsbury's coaching. When you don't have a defense and you're only going to have a player maybe two years, possibly three, you don't have the luxury of doing what Reid did which is keeping him second-string and giving him an entire year to improve some fundamental skills.
Fact. I graduated from Texas Tech in '87 and ever since the Leach years and then the Kingsbury years, I've watched some damned exciting quarterbacks that brought energy and excitement and "can-do/will-do" to the field. But I've never seen those attributes like I have with Mahomes.
This is going to be fun.
One of the things we (Tech fans/alum) loved most about Mahomes was that he saved his swagger for the field. Off the field, he was a gentleman and one who did the brand proud.
He'll do my adopted hometown of Kansas City proud.

Mahomes was raw coming out of high school, having only played organized football beginning his junior year. Kingsbury coached him up and got him to a point where he was NFL ready.
As another Texas Tech Alum, and having attended the majority of Tech home games over the last 5 years, Mahomes is the best QB to set foot on Tech's football field in the last 20 years, maybe ever.
