It has happened, what comes to light comes to light.
If there is anything to responsibly hope for, it's that his reasons are so reeruned and individual that it sobers/shames 24/7 talking heads into not even discussing them.
There probably isn't an alternative explanation or rationale that wouldn't serve to inspire some and inflame the passions of others.
