He let himself get hit a few times before he opened up. After that, he knew there was nothing to worry about. It's the smart way to fight if you know that you can lap someone technically and you are unsure of their raw power. Play it safe while you figure out their power, then start taking them apart. That's what Floyd did. He also wanted to give the viewers a little bit of a show.
You don't find it a touch interesting that he bet on himself to end it before 9.5, and the end of the 9th round is precisely when he began opening up?
