Absolutely. That was borne out of Glenn Frey's desire to become a "Rock" band as well as ditching Glyn Johns as their producer.
Hotel California and
The Long Run are great albums but Joe Walsh and Tim Schmidt really changed their sound from the early days, which I prefer.

Along with the Flying Burrito Brothers, Rick Nelson and Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles created a genre that has been honed to perfection by Nashville and Tony Brown.
It comes across as sterile and phone to me.
