Yeah, it's an odd rule but even the ref that blew the whistle had cause to do so. If you lose sight of the puck in the crease, you're supposed to blow the play dead. He made the call by the rulebook and yes, the right decision was made off that. It sucks for the Preds and if it happened to the Blues I'd be pretty damn irritated as well, but it is what it is.

The Preds had a lot of time to get that first goal afterwards and couldn't solve Murray.

My biggest beef with this series remains that bullshit offsides call in the first game. And not because of the call, but because of the stupid rule. There is no way at all that offsides should be a reviewable event.
I think offsides should be reviewable, just like plays should be reviewable when a ref loses sight of the puck, but it has worn on me and I'm not sure where you draw the line except to say you have to be really, really sure it's offsides.

It's like the MLB reviewing stolen bases... the spirit of the rule wasn't to have players keep the tag on for 5 seconds and scrutinize if a player came off the bag by 1/8th of an inch, but that doesn't necessarily make it wrong to review all calls.

In the end, I think they should get it right, but should be able to tweak things so it's not such a huge interruption and they aren't overturning calls based on fractions of an inch if you zoom in really close.
