Nothing wrong splitting them up if you don't mind the time commitment. I'd lift first as well and save cardio for later. If there's a long enough time gap between, it doesn't really matter though.
Best of both worlds would be one session. Heavy lifting session first followed by some sort of high intensity cardio like HIIT for 10-15 minutes. Burn the same amount of calories as steady state cardio and in half the time. Do it following lifting while your glycogen stores are low and burn more fat.
Steady state cardio is for the girls.
