Derek Carr would not be what we have seen so far if not for the respectable job that Oakland has done assembling his OL and WR corp. Mariota has been able to lean on his run game without any good WRs, Prescott the same (though he has Dez).
Now is the perfect time for the Chiefs to strike. They have a young ascending OL that will be together long term. Big time playmakers at WR and TE. They need to add some speed at RB and some depth at WR and TE. All around, it's a great spot for a young QB to step into.

the chiefs are actually in a good position to have a rookie qb should the starter go down. and here is where i make a browns reference. any quarterback in their newest existence would have failed miserably in cleveland.
