The Chiefs moved to the 40 on their first possession and faced a 3rd and 1. Hand it to Marcus, amirite?
**** YOU MARCUS. The Dolphins were thankfully held to just 3 by the Chiefs revamped defense, however.
On the Chiefs ensuing possession, the Dolphins sent a corner blitz at Montana.
And got they ass burned, son. Marcus Allen redeemed himself by plowing in from the three-yard line, and the Chiefs had the lead.
Free agent golden goose Deion Sanders then got his ass burned by Keith Jackson, leading to another Dolphins field goal.
Fortunately, the Chiefs offense and Montana in particular was unstoppable to this point. Montana threw for over 200 yards in the first half alone. Free agent pickup Ernest Givins turned in a big play.
The lead would not last long, though, as Deion Sanders ****ed up again.
Christ, Deion. Adding injury to insult, Marcus Allen then suffered a dislocated elbow on the next possession that will keep him out for 5 weeks. That meant Week 4 preseason pickup Eric Dickerson would move into the starting role.
After Montana smoothly moved the Chiefs down the field again, though, Brokedickerson gave KC the lead back.
The Chiefs defense stiffened at this point and suddenly it was BROKE DICKERSON OFF IN YOUR ASS!
With Dick her, son, pounding Miami hard, the Dolphins had one last chance to tie the game, trailing 24-16. They went after Sanders. Would he **** up again?
NO SIR! Primetime pays off in Week 1 with a clutch pass breakup. In fact, with Deion's help, the Chiefs defense held Mark Ingram and Irving Fryar to just two catches for 14 yards. It was a command performance for Kansas City's defense in the second half.
Montana: 21-29, 262 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT
Brokedickerson: 24 carries, 81 yards, 2 TD
Givins: 5 catches, 63 yards, 1 TD
