A game for the ages, folks. I simply couldn't stop the 49ers offense down the stretch, and regret calling an all out blitz on the second possession in OT, but I was desperate to stop Watters at that point. Krieg played well but his INT was a huge momentum shift, and purely due to his shit ratings, not my fault coach DJ.
Before you second guess my pitch play call, that play had been raping the 49ers all game. My only mistake was not giving McNair the ball. The play was the right call, Allen was just a tad too slow to turn the corner.
Bill Romanowski won MVP. You'll note he made two of the three tackles to end my game-tying field goal drive.
Losing Montana hurt, but I lost Dale Carter on the first drive, too, and had to move Ross to CB to compensate.
Final stats:
Joe Montana: 12-15, 139 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT
Dave Krieg: 19-26, 191 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
Marcus Allen: 24 carries, 162 yards
Keith Cash: 13 catches, 109 yards
Willie Davis: 9 catches, 137 yards, 2 TD
Santos Stephens: 10 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack
Steve Young: 25-36, 319 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT
Ricky Watters: 30 carries, 221 yards, 1 TD
Brent Jones: 6 catches, 110 yards
Jerry Rice: 3 catches, 66 yards
Romo: 9 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 INT, 1 FF, 1 TD
Also, **** the Madden refs for calling that Singleton catch a TD. That ball never broke the plane.
To 1994! I'm going after Deion.
