Oh, there's no doubt the Royals have insurance on that deal.
That's a very affordable extension for a guy who can front your rotation.

Petro kept saying last winter to extend him and make him a starter. Had we done that we'd have gotten him half off.
Ventura is the real concern anyway, he can't pitch like this again next year. He was hot garbage and his arm is way too good for that

Ventura is a major, major key for KC. His key is going to be improving his pitch mix and showing better command of the heater. It was too hittable last year.
Curve and change both graded out nicely, just needs to show consistency with them. I also think adding a slider or cutter would be a big benefit for Ventura... something else that looks like his FB coming out of the hand would help the fastball a bit.
