Smith certainly didn't play good yesterday and was unusually inaccurate on a number of throws, but he also made plenty of good passes too that had they been caught or not fumbled, would have made an impact. To say "Maclin and Kelce had to jump every time the ball came their way" is BS.

Receivers dropping well thrown passes which halted drives, center hiking ball over smith's head which halted a drive, lineman jumping off sides and other penalties halting drives, receivers and backs fumbling the ball and halting drives and certainly Smith - not being sharp - halted drives. It was a total offensive team suck fest.

The Chiefs are usually pretty good at taking care of the football, the line isn't typically going to be going up against Watt and Clowney, Smith will much more often than not be accurate, Maclin will probably not continue drop easy catches - etc. The Chiefs offense self-destructed yesterday... it wasn't that the Texans D was too much. Just about every bad thing that can happen to the offense happened. And they still only lost by 7! I'm more encouraged by the defense than worried about the offense after yesterdays game.

Broadcast said Maclin DNP on Friday because of a personal matter. He might have some distraction that explains his performance. Or, he just had an off game. Alot of them did. hopefully they got it out of the way early. Chiefs need to beat the Jets with Pittsburgh looming around the corner.
