Cinematography sucks, all the action is too frenetic, underexposed, and hard to follow; could've benefitted by moving the camera back five feet in every shot (and I saw it on an IMAX screen where everything was bigger, so I can't imagine how bad it is on a small screen). I loved the reboot film and am one of the few who didn't hate "Into Darkness" so I was okay with this film but it's pretty much more of the same and won't change anyone's world.

I didn't think the action shots were that bad on a small screen. My biggest issue was the sound mix, but I just chalked that up to the theater.
Front to back, I enjoyed it more than ITD. Like you, I didn't hate that one (when viewing it as it's own movie and not as a blatant ripoff of Space Seed and WoK. In fact liked it. But when I watch ITD again, I usually stop after the Vengeance crashes into San Fran. It just gets labored after that.
This one was superior as an overall movie to Darkness.
