Well, he's also a Star Trek "Fanboy". It's not like he's freaking John Logan or Neal Purvis or Steve Zaillian or any number of screenwriters or script polishers. He's Star Trek, through and through.
That said, it certainly doesn't look like a Star Trek movie, at least to me.
