If you now are a big fan you may have already seen this but his "fingering and chord changes" and getting particular sounds out without using the whammy bar are just phenomenal. Here I will link you up in case you haven't seen this particular one. Camera work wasn't great but it was 1970.

There are a few urban legends regarding who Jimi said was the best guitarist. The most famous supposedly took place on The Tonight Show where Jimi was to have said that Phil Keaggy was the best guitarist. The Kath story was supposedly a conversation between himself and Chicago's saxophone player. The Keaggy story is verifiably untrue, and the Kath story is just hearsay. It IS however true that Jimi was talking up a pre ZZ Top Billy Gibbons on the Dick Cavett show.
