I feel like they almost need to find a great Sci-Fi spec script and just tweak that to involve the ST characters. I actually like the cast they've assembled, but I can't think of anything in terms of any of the characters growing or someone turning in a performance to put their own stamp on one of the principles.
No one is signed for a 4th movie and Karl Urban almost didn't come back for this film.

Unless there's an amazing box office response, I'll bet this is it for the cast.

Star Trek has always worked better on TV.
