Overall I still liked it. It was better than the prequels and I'm excited to see what Rian can do with these characters. People are freaking out that the next movie is showing signs at getting political, but I trust politics under Rian's vision much more than I trust it under Lucas'.

Sure, TFA was
extremely derivative of the original movie. I can forgive that as a Star Wars fan who loathed the second trilogy. TFA has allowed me to pretend that the shitty parts of the prequels didn't happen. This one definitely had the feel of the originals. So, even though the thing was dripping with nostalgic cheese, I had a good time. At least I am looking forward to the next one and I'm getting back into the franchise again. I do think some of the new characters are great. Rey is really well done for instance. Old Bitter Luke looks promising. Even Darth Emo is compelling.
