The NFL's statement in the Chiefs tampering violation indicated that the league had already completed their investigation. The league said that the punishment - two draft picks, $100k fine for the Chiefs, $75k for Andy Reid, $25k for John Dorsey - took into consideration that the Chiefs were fully cooperative with the investigation.

So, ya know, this could've been a lot worse. Thanks, Goodell.

Speaking of Big Brother, the NFL's statement alleged that the Chiefs "improperly contacted" Jeremy Maclin during the 2015 negotiating period. They also said that the league had access to the Chiefs electronic and telephone records as part of the investigation. Emails or texts? I'm not sure where they fall in. I guess the question is whether Andy Reid texts, and I'm pretty sure that's a yes.

The league also said it had access to anyone they wanted to interview. Considering Maclin and Reid were together in Philly and the league fined Reid three times as much as Dorsey, it's a good bet that Reid was involved in this.

We should note that the Chiefs do not deny this in their statement. Nowhere in there do the Chiefs say we're innocent. Instead the Chiefs correctly focused on the "inconsistent" discipline from the league along with the "inconsistent communication" from the league on the action tampering policies.

The Chiefs indicated they would consider an appeal.

Hmmm. When did that begin? Hunt was clear that they cooperated 100% and I'd assume that would include this access. Is this article saying the league was monitoring back in 2015?
