Disagree. Her hatred of Roland isn't as essential. It could be more about any man kidnapping her and taking her to a different world. That could be just as profound and full of conflict.
But even if they feel as you do, they can absolutely both be dark skinned. Just today I read an article about the state of Nina Simone accusing Zoe Saldana of not being black enough to play Nina. Let's not act like Black on Black racism or mistrust isn't a thing.
It's absolutely far more important the overall story for Susannah to be black than for there to be racial tension between Roland and Susannah. That same theme can be explored in a myriad other ways. Changing Susannah would be a huge mistake.
So far, the "internet reaction" to the mere rumor of a White Susannah has been met with far more outraged than the official casting of Black Roland.
They're gonna do what they're gonna do. But it would be a huge mistake. And completely unnecessary.
