I wanted to believe but a Reid/Smith combo just can't work. Reid's offense works if you have a QB that can read a defense pre-snap and take advantage of matchups with passes downfield. That keeps the short stuff open. Look at how many of Rodgers passes are short. It would shock a lot of people but he makes a ton of short passes and piles up on YAC. They work because he'll destroy you if you have a bad matchup and he looks to the big play first. Smith is timid and will only hit you AFTER you get open. Almost no anticipation. That's why our big plays are almost always crossing routes. We won't go anywhere with him. We'll look better the next few games against weaker competition, but if we're fortunate enough to actually win enough games to get into the playoffs, we'll be quickly outclassed.
