That's pretty much a non-starter.
A disc issue
will linger. It's not likely to ever really fully recover. The only thing he can do is strengthen around the disc so much that it's never really put under the same amount of stress it once was. The problem is that even that sort of training may aggravate it.
A disc injury is really really bad news.
