This! I always thought that the "courageous" adjective was a bit misplaced. Sure, it's a terrible and unforunate situation but it's not like a cancer patient voluntarily takes on the cancer for some higher purpose. It's just a crappy situation that is forced on an individual and loved ones. Nobody wants that and nobody has any choice in the matter. Maybe "strong" or "tenacious" or "upbeat" or "enthusiastic" might be better descriptions.
