Throughout the 90's, Monster Magnet was hands down my favourite band. I saw them on the this Superjudge tour and managed to get back stag and hang with the band. One of the greatest experiences of my life. Dave Wyndorf handing me beers, we shot the shit... it was amazing. Then, when I cracked out a couple doobs, I thought they were going to molest me. I was their best friend from from that point on.
Cut to about 4 years later, I went to a cd release party for the Dopes to Infinity record and unexpectedly, Dave Wyndorf showed up! This small metal bar in downtown T.O. (The Bovine Sex Club) and in walks the lead singer with a couple music industry suits. The place erupted! After sitting back for a bit, having a beer or two, I see Wyndorf looking my way (this is no lie!), and he has a few groupies draped over him and he cuts through them and comes over to me and says "you cut your god-damn hair, didn't you?" I just about shit myself. As wasted as he appeared a few years earlier back stage, he remembered our time together and it made my day.
