As a matter of fact, the suspension of disbelief is what has fueled these movies since the 1960's. Without it, the series would have died in the 70's.

True, but they've been progressively pushing the franchise to grittier places that point up absurdity. If they do crazy, nonsensical things in Moonraker, I'm like "of course". Not a deal breaker, but they seem to want the series to be taken more seriously.
