I use Castrol Edge in my truck with a Fram Tough Guard filter..change every 3000 miles even though everything says I can go 5000-10000..all together it's like $35 and I'm completely fine with paying that because I plan on keeping the truck for a long time..so I want to keep the engine in as good of shape as possible..it only has 70000 miles and I plan on keeping it until it has over 200000..I put on about 7000 a year
If people only keep their vehicles for 4-6 years..and drive less than 15000 miles a year regular oil is going to be good enough if they change every 3000..it won't make sense financially to put in synthetic oil..if people keep vehicles longer then I would suggest paying an extra $5-15 every few months
