The BPsA for me in that group are Collins, Erving, Flowers, and Malcom Brown. Probably throw DGB in there. I think you could make an argument for any of them being the best. They all have a lot of talent.

I think sometimes it's easy to get caught up in "who is the best" but it's not like you draft a guy and suddenly their ability is unveiled as some absolute value. From that point you still have to have a guy that is willing to work hard to improve and to learn your system. To some extent, I think GMs can get a bad rap at time when a pick doesn't pan out because, while you can try to research someone's character and gauge their ability, it can be tough to know exactly how someone will react once they feel they've "arrived" at their goal... or what their true goal is. Hell, a lot of people thought Borland would go higher in the draft than he did... I wonder if some guys were tipped off in interviews that he didn't really love football and that's why he made it to the third. Drafting the guy is one part of the story, but it's still on the player to "make it happen" so to speak.
