I don't think it's about that at all. I think they believe it's a better way that gives them a better chance of success. Speaking of those who are in it for more than just multiple hook-ups.

I've never tried it. I already got married the old-fashioned way and once was enough for me. But as I said, I think people experience a heightened sense of intimacy communicating online, and that they believe it progresses relationships more quickly. I also think it's largely false.

But reality is what it is, and communication is shifting ever more towards texts and tweets and other solitary 'social' structures. I'd say there's no going back now.
