Sometimes turnovers happen. Force a ball into a tight spot and it might get picked off. It might also extend a drive or lead to a TD. That's different than lobbing a ball into triple coverage.

I have no problem with a QB willing to take risks with the ball. There is a difference between Favre in the 2009 NFCCG and a CB making a great play on a ball down the sideline to take it away from the WR.

Manning had 16 turnovers this year, almost 3x the number that Smith had.

It's not hard to build an offense where you don't turn the ball over and it's especially easy to avoid it when your RB gets you in third and short constantly.
You're way out in left field here. This place has pined for guys like Martz for 15 years. There is no way I'd characterize it as a place where people overvalue turnovers. It's the opposite. The general train of thought is turnovers are okay as long as the QB is throwing it down the field and taking risks.

Peyton Manning has not looked good the 2nd half of the season. Even Hootie agrees with that and he's the ultimate Manning homer. But 16 or 17 turnovers isn't the end of the world. That's probably in line with his normal numbers. You turn it over 25+ times though, that is bad. You are better off with a guy like Alex Smith in a situation like that.
