That could still have happened. It did not matter at that point. Once he passed through the singularity (so beyond the horizon) he fell out of space and time, and into the tesseract/5th dimension. There time is physical. That is how he can communicate with his daughter in the past. It is a place he can go to or a point in time that he can move to inside the tesseract by gliding around. So you are still correct in that time could have stopped for him, and in actuality it did stop for him, as he transcended beyond the arrow of time.

So basically when he was released from the tesseract they sent him back in time? Because the time it would take Coop to actually cross the horizon everyone would have already died billions of years ago. Interesting twist to think about. I guess the alien/human beings that built the tesseract must of really liked Coop. Since they sent him back in time and across the galaxy to see his daughter before she died. Then gave him enough time and resources to go be with Anne Hathaway
