The national anthem is a perfect time to get up and run to the restroom before a game starts. While everyone else is standing around singing or staring off into space, you can walk right into the restroom and get your business done.
The people behind the concession counters have to stand and do nothing during it as well, so you cannot buy a beer during the anthem, which seems un-American to me.
