I think that's it. It's for the games in the NL park, where you do more pinch-hitting and double-switching. Colon can play 2B/SS/3B, whereas Nix can fill in anywhere just in case they go that deep. If he bats, we're probably screwed, but Ned wants as much flexibility as possible for those games (hopefully no more than 2
).
Infante wasn't sitting anyway, and if he gets hurt Colon can replace him on the roster.
